The Christmas Gift Guide

AVL Lifestyler's Amanda Vaughan-Lee has curated our ultimate festive gift guide - from stocking fillers to under the tree gifting gems - for women, men, teens and tinies. That's your Christmas shopping sorted!

AVL Lifestyler has been created by ex-fashion buyer, personal shopper and most recently consultant for rental & resale platform MYWARDROBEHQ, Amanda Vaughan-Lee. Amanda creates bespoke wardrobe, interior and gift edits to refresh and enhance your style and ultimately your everyday life. Working with clients on briefs tailored to suit their taste, age, budget and occasion, Amanda's curations are for women, men and children.

Whether it’s ensuring you are the best present-giver this year, supporting you with a wardrobe declutter and revamp, helping realise your teenager’s bedroom makeover of dreams, finding you the perfect event outfit or pulling together your family’s ski holiday must-haves, Amanda gets straight to work with her innate knowledge, style and decisive, demon curating skills. She makes it a lot of fun too.

Here we ask Amanda what it’s like helping people hone their style and her favourite briefs and go-to's:

Who are your regular clients?
Through word of mouth and kind recommendations, I am building up a client list of lovely people, especially around the Cotswolds area where I live, Hampshire and London. They rely on me to provide them with original ideas as they simply don’t have the time to do the research themselves, they don’t know where to look or they lack the confidence to make the right decision.

What do you consider when making your bespoke edits for someone?
When we first chat/meet I ask lots of nosy questions so I get a good idea of their needs, budget, likes & dislikes etc. Whether it’s tablescape ideas for a party at home, holiday must-haves for a weekend away or the perfect present - items have to make you smile, be well made and be considered pieces that you’ll treasure for a long while.

What are you working on at the moment?
I am working with the wonderful Charlotte LJ, founder of Cloth which makes sustainable textiles, to transform her teenage daughter's attic bedroom into something magical, and practical but timeless. I am also helping a few rather impressively organised husbands who have already enlisted my help in putting together Christmas stocking ideas for their lucky wives and a couple of special jewellery commissions which I love doing!

Your personal stocking filler top 3 Wishlist?
Willow Crossley Murano bud vases, Diptyque Eau de Parfumerie Fleur de Peau & a Smythsons 2023 diary in a fab colour (I still refuse to switch to an electronic one which drives my husband crazy!)

And something bigger for under the tree?
A Philippa Herbert emerald Phoebe ring and a Fusalp Clarisse navy ski suit

What to buy our men this Christmas?
They all seem to have gone paddle crazy round these parts! so a paddle racquet and a snazzy personalised case from Not-Another-Bill

Your go-to party dress for the silly season?
I love a sequin, feather or colourful print so something fabulous from Etro, a sparkly mini dress from 16Arlington or a puffed shoulder number from Rebecca Valance.

Favourite accessories brand?
Chloe for winter boots, Loeffler Randell for a party shoe, Rebecca De Ravanel for statement earrings, Anya Hindmarch for the best tote/work bags and Alexis Amor for beautifully made statement sunglasses.

What does every kitchen need?
An Aga, a coffee machine & Alexa for my children’s (rather annoying and often rude) music requests and to time my eggs in the morning.

Wardrobe organisation tool?
Matching wooden hangers and a generous accessories space.

What’s always in your suitcase?
Books, earplugs, trainers, huge wash bag, a party dress, pyjamas and some cashmere.
