Best time to visit? 
Every season has its moment.  I’m partial to the hell of high summer when it gets so hot you can almost smell the tarmac melting and lines for the Hamptons Jitney snake around the block on Fridays, but "Fall" probably takes the cake 
 
Where to Stay?
With a friend, ideally.  Or the new Aman in midtown
 
Where to Shop?

Where to Spa?
I wish I had time to spa. Moda’s Beauty Director informs me Rescue is still where it’s at.

Ralph’s Cafe on 72nd at Madison. Go for the coffee, stay for the chocolate cake. 
 
Best spot for pre-dinner drinks? 
Nine Orchard on the Lower East Side. Book ahead!
 
Local delicacy?
Traffic. Learn to love it.

Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and then get lost in Central Park.  Make the Jacqueline Onassis reservoir your North star but take as many wrong turns as you dare…

Good to know…
Sushi Noz, the best Omakase in the city, has a “market” walk-in bar for affordable(ish) hand rolls, it’s genius.

Be a polite tourist and…
Don’t bother! No one is polite in New York, and, please, do not respond to whatever that “nice” stranger is asking you…
