My Last Supper

My Last Supper - Sean A. Pritchard

Deep within the gardens at Rousham in Oxfordshire...
"My Last Supper is one of our favourite family games. We play constantly; by ourselves around the kitchen table, with friends on holiday; in the car on the school run. It never fails to excite." Willow

Our guest this month is Sean A. Pritchard - award-winning garden and landscape designer who has a way with flowers, colour & interiors that is adored by many around the world. His stunning new book, Outside In, is out now.

As always we ask:

What would you have for your last meal on earth? A drink, a starter, a main course and pudding? You never get full and you can be wherever you want in the world…

My dream last supper would be set up nestled deep within the gardens at Rousham in Oxfordshire, sometime in the first couple of weeks of June. One of those early summer evenings that never seems to end. Rousham is, I think, as close as you can get to heaven on Earth.

I’d probably want to start with something simple like a salad. Last summer I was obsessed with a cucumber, mint and harissa salad with chickpeas and lots of lemon juice, so I’d probably say that. I’d need a Perrier Menthe too, which always reminds me of summer holidays in France.

For the main, it would have to be the chicken pie from Quo Vadis. I’ve had dreams about that pie it’s so good!

Since it’s my last meal, I’d go all out with dessert. A huge Victoria sandwich filled with a ridiculous amount of jam and buttercream. Strawberries, perfectly in season, on top, and big jug of warm custard on the side.

Bliss!
