Our guest this month - Anya Hindmarch - needs no introduction. She is, of course, the British designer who founded her eponymous label in 1987 and has continued to evolve the brand and lead the industry ever since. In 2017, Anya was awarded a CBE in recognition of her contribution to the British fashion industry. In 2021, Anya published her first book, If In Doubt Wash Your Hair, which we loved! The Anya Cafe, at the heart of Anya's Village in Pont Street, Chelsea is a must-visit for a delicious pit-stop. 

On to Anya's 'My Last Supper.' As always we ask:

What would you have for your last meal on earth? A drink, a starter, a main course and pudding? You never get full and you can be wherever you want in the world…

My favourite place in the world is around my kitchen table with my friends and closest family. Having everyone together is a real treat. I am also lucky to have a close group of girlfriends who I would invite, and my work team are virtually family, so can they be there too? It’s turning out to be quite a long table….

Starter would be giant prawns and homemade mayonnaise. Simple, classic, delicious.

No question, the main course would be roast chicken. Tia, my daughter, makes the best roast chicken. It always has delicious crispy skin, and we carve at the table before all digging in. Served with James’ purple sprouting broccoli, grilled with chilli and parmesan, and mashed potato. Big, generous, crowd-pleasing plates to share. To drink? Chilled dry white wine…

For pudding, nothing beats ice cream. I pick up tubs from Olivogelo in Pimlico, it is delicious, authentic Italian ice cream all made on-site daily. There are no bad flavours so take your pick!

One of my earliest food memories is eating a bourbon biscuit, I can remember the excitement of dividing up the sandwich and eating the filling first. I am basically a 10-year-old at heart. So, please can I add in a coffee - an americano preferably - to follow with some classic English biscuits as a kind of petit fours? I think those biscuits are so underrated and are really what inspired me to open the Anya Cafe.

The Anya Cafe, at the heart of The Village on Pont Street, London is inspired by the British Cafe of old but reimagined with the finest ingredients, and of course some of the trademark Anya humour, the Cafe offers a selection of specially created AH cakes and biscuits, designed to eat in or be taken away as gifts.
