Event Fowering, Christmas Chats, Books & More...
Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a good week?
Mine has been wonderfully mixed as ever - a big event in London for Estée Lauder on Monday juggled with getting the boys back to school after half term, working on our Seedling Print edition out this month (so excited!) and some fireworks too, of course…
There is always a little stress pre event (what condition will the flowers arrive in, have I ordered enough etc), then there is the magic of flowering, then the holding of breath during the transportation of all the petite and grande arrangements while sitting in the lorry (it’s really very glamorous this flowery life!); then the elation when it all comes together - the candles are lit and the guests arrive! (I was kindly invited to the celebration dinner too so always do a last minute change in the loo to try to emerge from florist to guest!).
On Wednesday morning I had a gorgeous chat with the wonderfully warm and super talented
- both clutching our cups of tea in our kitchens at home - her in front of her Christmas tree (one of three!) as part of the Book Tour for her brilliant new one, ‘The Christmas Companion’. It really did start to make me feel Christmasy! It was so much fun and made me think we should do more Substack Lives. Is that a good idea?It’s been so mild this week that despite the fireworks heralding the end of autumn, it doesn’t feel like winter (or Christmas) is coming that soon! But it is - in 48 days in fact! And the second drop of our tabletop collection launches this coming week to get us in the mood! The round of Christmas ads are also doing their thing - I’m sure you’ve seen the new John Lewis one (tears!), the Burberry one (feels!), the Trinny London one (laughs!), and the uncensored Mrs Alice one (brill!). I do love the Brits at Christmas…
