We’re almost half way through January!
While I suppose we shouldn’t wish away anything, I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite month. But we wouldn’t appreciate the brighter days without a little dull, dark and damp I guess! I hope you’re finding some January joy in the every day, even a little winter sunshine helps…

Perspective does too and my heart breaks for the wildfire devastation unfolding across Los Angeles, everywhere I look I see the city burning and yet we can’t look away. Sending so much love and strength to all those affected. If you’re looking for ways to help, we’ve included some charities below.

In this week’s newsletter, I share 5 things on my mind (from snow boots to the healthiest sandwich and a podcast ep for your winter walks); a round of up of nine new-ish novels for your 2025 reading list; and I answer your first ‘Ask Me Anything’ questions!

Hearts and minds are with Los Angeles, the city of angels, right now. These charities are raising funds…

American Red Cross
Calfund Wildfire Recovery Fund
California Fire Foundation Wildfire & Disaster Relief Fund
Baby2Baby
LA Food Bank
Watch Duty

Please add any that you know of we haven’t covered or ideas on how we can help from afar…

2. Jasmine for the kitchen table!

Jasmine on my kitchen table, on our green & white striped tablecloth, with my WISP scented candle (both on sale until Sunday!) for company…

As I said on Instagram this week, if I can suggest one thing do this January, then please treat yourself to a small towering Jasmine plant for your kitchen table. Proper January Joy! Care wise, they want a lot of indirect sunlight, at least six hours a day, not too much watering but not to be let to dry out and to be kept out of the cold but not too warm.

3. Snow Boot Central
