Friday Seedlings
Hellebore heaven, Christmas Wrapping 101, Festive Biscotti, 10 Fave Fashion Picks...
Happy Friday!
I hope you’ve had a great week. I have my two older boys at home already and so it’s a heady but happy mix of end of term chill (and a lot of washing!) and quite a bit of pre-Christmas chaos. I think the magic lies in the little pauses - a candlelit hush at a carol service, a solitary march with the dogs or potting some bulbs in peace. Hang in there, work and life admin peaks at this time of year but soon, I hope, you can be ensconced in a festive, family cocoon of proper holiday time.
Don’t forget if you need some inspiration for wreaths (it’s not too late!), garlands or other festive decoration DIY at home, my 3 in 1 Christmas Decorating tutorials are online now to have now and for many Christmases to come!
In this week’s dispatch - Hellebore heaven, Marie Antoinette - the exhibition you must go to this holiday season, how to wrap presents with style and sanity in tact, favourite foliage for festive decor, 10 favourite season fashion finds, and a wonderful festive biscotti recipe…
Lots of love,
Willow
Marie Antionette

On Monday I took a day for me (this is harder than it sounds but I highly recommend it!) and met some of my besties for a day in London. I’ve been wanting to go the Marie Antoinette exhibition at the V&A since it opened earlier this year and this was the day. I loved it; I’ve been fascianted by her since watching Sofia Coppola’s film in 2006 and adored discovering more about her. The dresses, the decadence, the hand embroidered bows and beads, the tiny bejewelled shoes, the ruffles, the leopard print! (I had naively not expected there would be leopard print in that time!). Pure escapsim, pure romance, all the floucnes and frills you would expect but in the most beautiful, skillful, detailed, inspiring forms. Her jewellery literally took my breath away and as for the gardening tools - The minute the rain stops I’m off to decorate my spade with ribbons too!
Heavenly Hellebores

Hooray for hellebores! There is not much else in the flower department when there are so many Christmas trees and poinsettias jostling for sale and the garden is bare. These beauties are lovely as either cut flowers for some freshness in a vase or potted up on their own as bulbs or with hyacinths and white amaryllis (as I’ve done in the pic above).
