Happy Friday…
I hope you’ve been enjoying the sunshine and high summer feels wherever you are this week (and for those in the southern hemisphere it will be your turn again before you know it!).
Life just feels more carefree and easy breezy in this weather doesn’t it? This last week I have been in full-blown summer event season - flower fever with a big countryside wedding followed immediately with an event for AERIN earlier this week at the gorgeous Estelle Manor, both conveniently near home to me in The Cotswolds.
In this heat-wave friendly edition I share 6 things on my mind - from all the flowery event details to a genius hearing test right there on your smartphone, summer style, supplements, salads, and more.
Plus I answer your Ask Me Anything question about where I started/learned floristry (hint: it’s not what you think!).
Wishing you a very happy, sunny weekend ahead.
With Love,
Willow
6 Things
1. Summer Event Flowering
It’s been a big flowery week. Five events back-to-back; a wedding, a workshop, a talk, a lunch and a dinner. Lots of spread sheets (are there any creatives out there who can do spreadsheets?!). Lots of looong days and heat-induced meltdowns (humans and flowers), lots of chatting, lots of laughing. A serious lot of beauty. Flowers to die for - there is no-one better at flowers, scale and logistics than Kim at Marlston Farmgirl. No one better at roses than Victoria and Barney at Stokesay Flowers and nowhere better for a serious dose of calm than a visit to Tiff at Chippy Flower Farm. We had three different colour palates going on - pinks, white and multicoloured. Masses of roses, sweet peas, the very last of the peonies, foxgloves, ammi, philadelphus, nasturtium and clematis vines. Of all the flowers over the last week, what brought me the most joy were the pairing of peonies and sweet peas; and the wild nasturtium tendrils we used for the dinner at Estelle Manor for AERIN.
We have existed on overnight oats, brie and cranberry baguettes, salt and vinegar popcorn and millionaires shortbread for a week giving me an insatiable need for broccoli and anything green since I’ve got home again. Hence the recipe a bit further down!
