Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a good week?

I don’t know where time is going at the moment. We’re hurtling through November and I haven’t even begun to think about Christmassy things. I can’t seem to catch my breath or keep up with anything I’m meant to be doing! We’re working on our festive printed issue of the Seedling as we speak which is filled with gift ideas, so if you’re in the same boat as me, fear not, help is at hand on that front.

I’ve been snatching moments to pot up my bulbs; the house is slowly filling up with forced paperwhites and hyacinths which I’m cramming into baskets and our brass julep cups (also the best presents for teachers et al!). I’m on the lookout for some the soft red and white stripy Nymph amaryllis to have flowering in time for Christmas but they’re proving rather tricky to locate! Anybody seen some?

Speaking of Christmas, don’t forget my 3 in 1 Christmas Decorating tutorials are online now (how to create a wreath, garland & decorate the table for the festive season).

I hope you enjoy today’s dispatch - we’re talking rainy day comforts, a burgundy (hued) edit, the magic of moss & more…

Tabletop lights and stripes to brighten up a rainy day - all over here.

Let there be (mix & match) light

On a rainy, grey day there is joy to be found with some colourful candy striped mix and matching. I’m having a lot of fun pottering with our chic new brass bamboo tea light lamp stands and changing up the shades on a whim, deciding between stripes en masse or mixing with the Botanica and Maharani prints (designed with our friends at Barneby Gates). I’d love to know - what is your favourite? I love them all, obviously!

PS you can use everyday tea lights (like the ones you get in a giant bag from IKEA and often have lurking in a cupboard) and they also take LED tea lights too - the light is soft and very pretty to have on whatever time of day in the darker, winter months…

All about Burgundy

Burgundy, Plum, Malaga Wine, Claret, Rouge Noir - there are many ways to describe the deep-red-purply-brown shade that feels so right from Autumn to the lead up to Christmas. And there is so much of it around…
