Kate Corbett-Winder
From The Garden...
As many of you will know, my mother is a talented artist (writer and gardener too, amongst many other things!). Her new exhibition opens in London next month (file it under things to look forward to!) and I know she’d love you to come and visit if you can…
FROM THE GARDEN
by Kate Corbett-Winder
New exhibition at Browse and Darby, London
From 5 - 27 February
Painting predominantly from her studio, surrounded by the verdant gardens of her home in Wales, From the Garden is a true ode to both passions of the artist’s life. Corbett-Winder works mostly in oil to produce pictures of remarkable depth and sensitivity, fuelled by her love of the land and flowers tended carefully over the years.
“As a passionate gardener and artist it is hard to separate my studio from the garden and landscape beyond. There is an overlap thinking about colour, shape and light and how the atmosphere changes through the year. I love the greenness and optimism of spring before summer arrives when the crowd of saturated colours clamour for attention.
I immerse myself in the chaos of entwined plants - then retreat to the studio with a headful of images to translate into paint on canvas, never as an accurately botanical version, but my version at a remove.” Kate Corbett-Winder
