Highlights from Chelsea Flower Show week...

A few of my favourite moments from The Chelsea Flower Show last week.

The collective energy around the Chelsea Flower Show excites me every year - it never gets old and the rain does nothing to dampen enthusiasm. It is England after all! I was very busy running workshops, flowering stores, and dinner events and ended up giving a tour of the actual flower show with Eve Lom where I soaked up the flowery magic once again.

Highlights for me were mossy walls, blue poppies, new rose varieties, giant clematis & acres of foxgloves. I couldn’t love Tom Stuart-Smith’s Foxglove & Cowparlsey Garden for the National Garden Scheme more if I tried - possibly my all-time favourite and you know how I love a mossy wall…!

The Pragnell Store, Mount Street, London

It was a busy week for me:

We created a potted garden installation with masses of wicker baskets at the Pragnell store at Mount Street and taught a couple of in-store workshops where we taught their wonderful customers surrounded by, and donning, the most beautiful jewels. Flowers and jewels make a beautiful pairing!

Next up I had the pleasure of creating the flowers for a special dinner to celebrate the Aerin Lauder X Mark Cross collaboration at the beautiful 22 London. An English country garden theme, I chose a sea of poppies, peonies, iris, geums, and hesperis, all locally grown by Kimberley Fleming @marlston_farmgirl and dotted down the table with cream dinner candles, held in elegant, tall glass sleeves - a twinkly garden delight!

It was such a joy to be back with my friends at Eve Lom again. We hosted a flowery workshop at the Pavilion Club in Knightsbridge for 18 guests, many of whom had flown all the way from China - where we used locally grown flowers from Treea @london_flower_farmer to make hand-tied bouquets. I then lead the team, in the pouring rain, to the Chelsea Flower Show. We spent most of our time in the marquee marvelling at the giant clematis, the newly named Emma Bridgewater rose at David Austin, and the fabulous fuchsias.

Sézane event
The week before I hosted a petite L’Art des Fleurs event with one of my favourite French clothing brands, Sézane. So while strictly not Chelsea Flower Show week it certainly felt like the start of it. In the most gorgeous venue, the newly opened The Hero in Maida Vale, everyone created huge hand-tied bouquets, again from locally grown flowers, this time grown by Anna Brown in Oxfordshire and Alfie at Burnt Fen Flowers in Norfolk; masses of foxgloves, roses, poppies, and orlaya.
